Rui Kang got his PhD in Nuclear Science and Technology at the University of Science and Technology of China in 2020, supervised by Prof. Yuntao Song. During his PhD candidate, he also spent two years at the EPFL-SPC as a visiting student, supervised by Dr. Davide Uglietti. His doctoral research focused on the design and numerical quench study on high current HTS cables. He also took part in the design and analysis of a quench experiment on high current REBCO conductor implemented on the SULTAN facility. Since 2020, he has been working in the Institute of High Energy Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences, continuing his study on quench of superconducting magnets and modelling of HTS cables and coils, but changing the subject from fusion to accelerator magnet. He also got some experiences on CCT dipole and quadrupoles in recent years.
